Wheat Germ oil (Triticum aesivum oleum) is processed from Wheat, a grass in in the True Grasses family (Poaceae), originally from the Levant region of the Near East, but now cultivated worldwide. The whole grain can be milled to leave just the endosperm for white flour. The by-products of this are bran and germ. The whole grain is a concentrated source of vitamins, minerals and protein, while the refined grain is mostly starch.

Wheat germ oil is rich in vitamin E (215mg/100g), which is believed to have a specific effect on the human immune system (regulating gonadal activity), and tocopherol (which has the properties of a lipid solvant, i.e. neutralising free radicals). Tocopherol is believed to help reduce the risk of some types of cancer, especially skin cancer (the exact mechanism is yet unknown) and in the food industry is used as a antioxidant. Vitamin E is believed to have specific properties which help alleviate sterility in women (sometimes termed ‚fertility vitamin‘).

Note: Synthetic tocopherol does not have any anti-oxidant properties. Vitamon E increases the risk of blood goagulation, due to a specific chemical interaction with prostaglandins.

Take 3-6 capsules daily, with plenty of water.
