Thyme (Thymus serpyllum), also known as Wild Thyme or Creeping Thyme, is a hardy evergreen, creeping shrub in the Mint family (Lamiaceae), native to Europe and northern Africa. It is a lowgrowing plant up to 2 cm (1in) tall with creeping stems up to 10 cm (4in) long. The oval evergreen leaves are 3–8 mm long. The strongly scented flowers are either lilac, pink-purple, magenta or white, 4–6 mm long and produced in clusters.

Bio-active ingredients include essential oils like zymol, thymol. carvacol, bitterns, tanning agents, saponin, iron, calcium and a number of other minerals and trace elements. Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus globulus), Lamb’s Tongue (Plantago lanceolata) and Chamomile (Antebis nobilis) are ideal in combination with Thyme.

Medicinal properties of Thyme are (lightly) antibiotic, disinfecting, anti-inflammatory, immunizing, digestive, expectorant and cramp alleviating.

Note: Use only very sparingly during pregnancy.

Dosage

Take 3-6 capsules daily, with plenty of water.
