Burdock (Arctium lappa), aka Greater Burdock or Beggar’s Buttons, is a biennial plant of the Burdock genus (Arctium) in the Daisy family (Asteraceae), native to temperate regions across the world – from Scandinavia to the Mediterranean to the Middle East to China and Japan. Today it is naturalized almost everywhere and is usually found in disturbed areas, especially in soil rich in nitrogen.

Burdock root has blood cleansing properties and is mostly used for a number of skin disorders, especially those caused by toxins (Burdock stimulates kidney and gall bladder function and promotes elimination of toxins). The combination with wild growing Violet (Viola) further enhances these properties.

Burdock may also reduce cholesterin levels in the blood and help with mild diabetes; in addition, it has diuretic (promotes urine elimination) and diaphoretic (promotes sweating) properties.

The bio-active ingredients in Burdock include inulin (a polysaccharide and substance similar to penicillin), glucose, mucilage, essential oils, resin, tanning agents and other components with antifungal and antibacterial properties.

Take 3-6 capsules daily, with plenty of water.
