The Atlantic Salmon (Salmo salar), aka Bay Salmon, Black Salmon, Silver Salmon, is a fish in the Salmon family (Salmonidae), which is found in the northern Atlantic Ocean and rivers that flow into the North Atlantic. Most Atlantic Salmon follow anadromous fish migration patterns: they undergo their greatest feeding and growth in salt water, however, adults return to spawn in native freshwater streams where the eggs hatch and juveniles grow through several distinct stages. This is a fairly large Salmonid; after 2 years at sea they measure 71 to 76 cm (28-30in) long and weigh 3.6 to 5.4 kg (8-12 lbs) on average. While they live in fresh water, they have blue and red spots; when they mature, they take on a silver-blue sheen.

Atlantic Salmon oil (Salmo salar oleum) is rich in Omega-3-fatty acids (35%), a type of unsaturated fatty acid which is required for a healthy circulatory system. Salmon oil is a food supplement used to increase performance and prevent premature aging; Omega-3-fatty acids increase blood flow and prevent plaque build-up in the arteries. It is public knowledge that societies which consume substantial amounts of fatty fish do not suffer from health disorders that are epidemic in industrialized nations: heart and circulatory problems, allergies, inflammation of the joints, rheumatism, cancer.

Salmon oil not only helps alleviate health issues – it acts as a strong preventive measure with healthy persons and even infants; regular use increases brain performance and promotes a healthy nervous system.
