Blue Eucalyptus – also known as Blue Gum or Southern Blue Gum – is a evergreen tree in the myrtle family (Myrtaceae), native to Australia. It prefers humid climates and is widely cultivated. Eucalyptus typically grows from 30 to 55 meters tall (100 to 180ft). The leaves, which are reminiscent of the white willow and exude a strong, but pleasant odor, are rich in essential oils which have strongly antiseptic properties. When consumed, these oils are eliminated via the lungs which has beneficial effects on the breathing passages. Add to that a blood sugar reducing effect.

Administering the active ingredients in a capsule is preferable, as they thus work from the inside out. In combination with Thyme they are especially effective against the common cold, and may reduce reconvalescence for days. Also indicated with asthma and rheumatism. diarrhea and to induce hemostasis (blood coagulation).

History : There are historical claims of trees having grown to 100 meters (330ft); presently, in Tasmania, the tallest tree measures 90 meters (295ft).
