Root

The medicinal variety of Angelica (Angelica archangelica officinalis), also known as Archangel root or Holy Ghost root, is a two- to four-yearly, only once blooming plant growing to 1.2 to 3 meters (4 to 13ft.) of height. The rootstock is thick and with wild plants carrot-shaped. The stems stand upright, the umbels are large and the florescence is a preference among bees. In many countries of the northern hemisphere, the plant is eaten as a vegetable.

Angelica fortifies physical and mental resilience, revitalizing the entire body and fighting fatigue and depression. There is hardly any other plant offering such impressive effects. Angelica relaxes, releases tension and balances the entire body; it is thus well suited for treatment of stress with accompanying stomach and digestive system complaints. In winter, it is used to increase the immune system.

With some persons, Angelica may have a stimulating effect; the time of consumption is thus critical: to help with digestion, use with meals; to stimulate the organism use after meals; to relax use before going to sleep. Also promotes elimination of the placenta.

History: In medieval times, Angelica was considered a cure-all (including the psyche; many disorders start in the psyche).

Note: Caution when looking for Angelica in the wild, as it is easily mistaken with Kefe cumin (Laser Trilobum) or Hemlock (Conium maculatum). Avoid high doses during pregnancy, as the uterus is stimulated. Diabetics should use low doses only.

Dosage

Take 1-2 capsules three times daily, with plenty of water.
